Our Key Objectives

To realize our mission and bring our vision to life, the Bangladesh Society of Regional Anaesthesia (BASRA) is committed to pursuing the following key objectives. These goals form the strategic foundation of our activities and guide our efforts to advance the practice of regional anaesthesia in Bangladesh.

To Enhance Professional Competency and Skill

We aim to design and deliver a structured, continuous learning pathway for anaesthesiologists at all career stages. This includes organizing regular hands-on workshops, simulation-based training, and certified courses with a primary focus on modern techniques, particularly ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia (USRA).

To Standardize Clinical Practice and Ensure Safety

Our objective is to develop, publish, and promote evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and safety protocols for regional anaesthesia tailored to the healthcare context of Bangladesh. By establishing a national standard of care, we aim to enhance patient safety and ensure consistency in practice across the country.

To Foster a Vibrant and Collaborative Professional Network

We are dedicated to building a strong, interactive, and supportive community. This will be achieved by hosting an annual national conference, organizing regular regional meetings, and establishing a digital platform for members to discuss clinical cases, share knowledge, and seek expert advice. Furthermore, we will establish a mentorship program to guide trainees and junior consultants.

To Promote Research and Academic Innovation

We seek to cultivate a culture of scientific inquiry within our community. Our objective is to encourage and facilitate clinical research in regional anaesthesia by providing members with a platform to present their work, promoting multi-center data collection, and working towards the establishment of a dedicated academic journal or publication.

To Increase Awareness and Advocate for Best Practices

BASRA will actively advocate for the wider integration of regional anaesthesia as a crucial component of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols and multimodal pain management. We aim to raise awareness among surgeons, hospital administrators, and healthcare policymakers about the clinical and economic benefits of our subspecialty.

To Establish National and International Partnerships

We aim to build strategic collaborations with other national medical societies, academic institutions, and leading international regional anaesthesia organizations. These partnerships will facilitate knowledge exchange, bring global best practices to Bangladesh, and provide our members with opportunities for international exposure and training.
